Brain-Based Chiropractic Care

At The Cortex Brain & Spine Center, we go beyond traditional adjustments with a brain-based approach tailored to each patient’s needs. Our care targets the root cause of pain and dysfunction, restoring alignment, mobility, and nervous system communication.

Sessions may include precise spinal and extremity adjustments to correct subluxations as well as specific therapies to release muscle tension. Brain-based adjusting enhances nervous system function, creating more effective and longer-lasting results.

Combined with corrective exercises, this personalized approach strengthens the body, prevents future injury, and promotes long-term pain relief, improved performance, and overall wellness.

Physiotherapy

Manual Technique: Diversified

Is a safe, natural, and noninvasive treatment performed by a licensed chiropractor. Using precise, controlled force—known as high-velocity, low-amplitude (HVLA) thrusts—the chiropractor targets restricted or misaligned joints in the spine, pelvis (including the sacroiliac joints), or extremities. This may produce an audible “popping” sound, called cavitation, which is a normal release of joint pressure.

Chiropractic adjustments help relieve pain, improve joint mobility, reduce muscle tension, and support overall musculoskeletal health, and are performed using either hands-on techniques or specialized instruments developed through years of training and expertise.

Activator Technique

The Activator technique uses a spring-loaded, hand-held instrument to deliver a quick, precise, low-force adjustment to the spine and extremities. This instrument-assisted chiropractic treatment helps improve joint mobility, relieve pain, and support overall musculoskeletal health without overwhelming the nervous system.

Its high speed reduces muscle resistance, allowing for a more comfortable and effective adjustment, while the targeted force avoids unnecessary twisting or bending of the joint.

The Activator II instrument offers gentle, controlled force with adjustable settings, making it ideal for pregnant women, children, and patients with osteoporosis or arthritis, or anyone who prefers a softer alternative to manual adjustments.

Drop Table Technique

The drop-table chiropractic technique, also known as the Thompson Technique, is a gentle, effective method of spinal adjustment using a specialized table with segmented “drop” sections. A light, controlled thrust combined with the table’s drop allows gravity and momentum to assist the adjustment, improving alignment and joint mobility with less force than traditional techniques.

This method provides highly specific, targeted adjustments without overstimulating the nervous system, making it ideal for patients with debilitating pain, sensory sensitivity, or a history of concussions. It also reduces muscle resistance and avoids excessive twisting for a more comfortable experience.

At The Cortex, we use advanced drop tables to customize care. Our Zenith 440 Drop Table features air-powered drops and assisted elevation, while the Omni Chiropractic Drop Table offers a durable manual-drop system that safely accommodates a wide range of body types up to 400 lbs.

SOT Sacro-Occipital Technique

SOT is one of the most delicate chiropractic techniques and is great for those who are unable to receive more forceful therapies. It uses a combination of leg length analysis and muscle testing to determine the dysfunctional joint misalignments of the pelvis and associated structures and then pelvic blocks are placed in specific sites to allow gravity to untwist these misalignments.
